October 2024
Dear Fisherfolk,
I know! I know! I promised I’d write a newsletter before October 1st. I’ve still technically got 7 & 1/2 hours left of September, so there’s still time! This reminds me of being back in school. It seemed like everyday was the “Last Chance” to finish something that had to be done yesterday. I guess it’s always the 11th hour somewhere in your life. If you are not aware of our online Lunch With Trout shows on Thursdays at Noon (central time), you need to look into it. We are having a BLAST! We’ve already done 11 of these informal live streams and they are archived online for your viewing pleasure. Ezra and I sit and talk about our lives, our career, some ideas and inspiration behind our songs from the last 48 years, and we play a few, usually between 7 and 9 songs. We’ve had a great time telling stories and presenting new and old material without repeating songs. We swore we could play 4 or 5 full shows without repeating a song. We’re digging through and finding ones you haven’t heard in a long time, if ever. We’ll have another episode soon, Thursday Oct 3rd. Ooh, that’s quick! I’d better hurry up and finish this letter! Drop in online on Facebook or YouTube. Join us!
We will miss a few Thursdays as we’ll be hitting the road a bit this Fall. It starts with a 4-day October run through Texas. This will include shows in Fort Worth, Austin, Galveston, and The Woodlands (just north of Houston). Then we have a 3-day run through Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. Our hearts go out to the folks in the areas devastated by Hurricane Helene. The news is so sad and downright heartbreaking. Hopefully we’ll be able to deliver some shows that might lift some spirits a bit. Hopefully we’ll have some roads for the drive. The pictures and videos look so terrible.
Well, it’s now 5 AM on October 1st and I didn’t get it finished and turned in on time. Maybe I can get some Extra Credit. You know I had those dreams about college for years! The ones where I am lost on a campus, searching for a classroom to take a final exam for a class that I sort of maybe remember attending a few times. If I can just pass this test… Yep. Sure miss those good ole college days. Actually, I’m old enough now to get lost 2 or 3 times a day on my own in real life. Come out and see us before they have to start sending out Silver Alerts to find us.
Troutfully yours, Keith (and Ezra)
PS- Did I tell you I have a new grandson? His name is Ren. Come on out to our live shows. I have pictures!
