March 2022

Dear Fisherfolk,

Spring has come and gone several times already this year. Mother Nature is serving up a round of indecisiveness with a weekly tug-of-war between flowers and snow. It appears to be a reflection of the state of the world, tentatively opening and closing, enticing us much like Lucy and her elusive football. But we do believe it will get better and we will try to make it so. We missed sending out a February newsletter. (It was a short month! The dog ate it! We had nothing to talk about!) Now we're back and ready for action! So here's the news!

In March, we (Keith and Ezra, in case you forgot) will be playing shows as Wheatfield with Connie Mims-Pinkerton and Craig Calvert. Visit Wheatfield's website for ticket information.

Wheatfield released a CD in 2020 called Some People. Timing… Some people heard it. Not many. It's a great CD and you should hear it! It will be available at our shows in Houston, Galveston, Austin, and Fort Worth.

Trout Fishing in America is busting with news. I'll just list things in no particular order so I don't forget.

1) Trout recorded a video with Red Barn Studio for our song Safe House. Jason Miller did a great job! We did a great job! The video premiered on The Bluegrass Situation last month and we thank them for that nod. We understand that it will also soon be playing on Ditty TV. Woohoo! Check it out

2) April 2 will be a return to our good friends in Midland, TX with a show at the lovely Yucca Theater. We've missed you all and it will be great to be back!
3) On April 22, Trout Fishing in America's newest CD will be officially released into the wild. Sort of a musical "Catch and Release" program. Hahaha. I made myself laugh. Too much time alone, I guess! SAFE HOUSE is a collection of 13 songs recorded at the Trout House Studio during the past couple of years. I can't quit listening to it. My son loves it, and he can be one tough critic.

4) SHOWS! SHOWS! TROUT SHOWS!

April 28 - The Red Dragon, the finest listening room in Baton Rouge, LA. We'd like to extend a special thank you to Chris Maxwell for keeping this treasure happening. Can't take it for granted, folks.

April 29 - Enoch's in Monroe, LA. This is a family-owned Irish pub and a champion of live music and Trout Fishing in America for decades. WE LOVE THESE PEOPLE!

April 30 - The 04 Center in Austin, TX. This is a brand new venue for us and we hear it is fabulous. We lost some Austin venues during the pandemic. We will miss them, but here's to what happens next!

May 1 - Main Street Crossing in Tomball, TX. This is a great place to hear live music. Not a bad seat in the house and the food is excellent. It has become a regular and welcome stop for the Trout.

May 4 - Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, AR. This is a part of the Walton Arts Center's Artosphere Festival. Great place to bring the whole family. Lovely gardens. Flowers. Butterflies. Spring is bound to be here by May 4. Right?

Troutfully yours,

Keith and Ezra
