June 2025
Dear Fisherfolk,
Did you miss us?! We've been gone right here! We've been spending a lot of time here in the Trout House studio working on our next project and playing music together. Some of you may have caught our "Lunch with Trout" livestreams. Lunch with Trout gives us a chance to work through songs and chat with you. Our next LwT is Thursday June 12th at noon central time. You can tune in on Facebook or YouTube.
If you're a longtime Trout fan you know we've been pretty serious road dogs our entire career. Covid gave us a forced time off. It was a scary time but it was also a good time getting to stay home and appreciate our family lives. Keith and I both have grandchildren. There's a special delight in being around those children. Karen and I were eating dinner with our granddaughter Bertie Sue the other night and Bertie crawled into Karen's lap and said, "I don't know why my eyes are wet." She said she wasn't sad; she was the opposite. She was really happy. That melted us.
So you may ask when we're going to be out on the road again. Well... We start back in July. We travel to State College, PA to play the Festival of the Arts. It's been a while since we've been back there. In the past, our venue at that festival has been a football field playing for an audience in bleachers! It kinda feels like stadium rock lite. The next day, we'll be in Bryn Mawr, PA for the Twilight Concert series. We've done this series for a few years now and it's a lovely outdoor concert. We play in a gazebo to an audience sitting on the lawn in front of us. We head to Mohonk Mountain House the next day. If you've never seen or heard of this place, it's worth looking up on the internet. Imagine the hotel from the Shining with a much happier and safer vibe!
Keith and I started writing songs and playing music together back in June of 1976. The Summerfolk Festival in Owen Sound, Ontario started back in 1976 as well. They're celebrating their 50th festival this year. We'll be there August 15-17. I struggle with math and it took me a while to figure out that 1976-2025 equaled 50 festivals whereas Trout won't have its 50th anniversary until 2026! It is an amazing milestone. On our way up to Canada we'll stop in Ann Arbor, MI to play The Ark, a bastion of live music since 1965! What an honor to be a part of both of these places.
Troutfully yours,
Keith and Ezra
