January 2020

Happy New Year!

You might have noticed that Trout has taken some time off recently.  It's been really nice to spend time with our families. We've been rediscovering some of our older music, rehearsing and relearning songs that have been lost to the mists of time. Click here for a snippet of what we're doing.  In this time off, Ezra also acquired a new electric guitar! You should expect to see it when we hit the road again. Don't be scared!
January is pretty light with only one performance (January 31st at Threadgill's). Things start heating up for us in February. We'll kick it off in San Antonio doing a Big Show with Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines at the Tobin Center! Terri has long been one of our favorite performers and writers. She is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter who's been bringing high energy shows across the country for years. Lloyd Maines is also a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter/producer/Texas legend! We'll each do a set and then get together at the end to turn these two duos into a hot quartet.

As longtime road warriors, we've had a lot of experience driving. We've driven in just about every kind of weather imaginable. It's pretty safe to say that driving in icy conditions is our least favorite way to get to gigs. That's why you see a lot of dates in Florida this February. The southern roads are generally not icy this time of year and Florida offers a roadside snack that is Ezra's absolute favorite. BOILED PEANUTS!  We don't know how many of you have experienced the flavor burst of a hot boiled peanut but it's one of the major culinary pleasures offered in parts of the south. Ezra has described the boiled peanut as "redneck edamame".
Be safe, treasure your family and friends and be good to strangers.
