August is Ezra’s birthday month. When Ezra was a little boy (and that was a very long time ago), his grandmother offered him a choice for his birthday celebration. He could either have a traditional birthday cake or she would give him and his friends all of the watermelon they could eat! There was no contest. It was watermelon. The day arrived and several watermelons were iced down and cut up. The feast took place in an apple orchard and it didn’t matter if you were totally covered in juice. It was easy to wash off. Birthdays were great days and Ezra’s love for watermelon persists to this day.
Trout will be in the studio a lot during the month of August. We’re working on a new CD. Although the dates are few during the month, these are all pretty special. We’re playing First Thursday, August 4th, on the Square in Fayetteville, AR. This is our home base and a chance to bring the entire family to a free outdoor event. On August 5th, The Outliers (featuring Mike Sumler, JT Huff and Keith and Ezra) will be doing an early show at George’s Majestic Lounge, also in Fayetteville, AR. August 6th, were looking forward to returning to The Bowery Stage in Winnsboro, TX. Dana Louise will be making a special guest appearance! We finish up the month with appearances in CO. We’ll be doing our annual train ride with the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad August 13th out of Alamosa. The 27th, we’ll be at Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale, CO as Dana Louise and the Glorious Birds! On the 28th, our friend Don Richmond will become a Glorious Bird and join us at Cole Park for Sunday’s at Six in Alamosa, CO! If you have a chance to make any of these dates, we’d love to see you. There’s nothing better than going to hear a live concert with friends and family. It seems the way people know us best is through word of mouth. Bring someone with you who’s never seen us before next time you come out!
