Trout just completed a long drive from Arkansas to the East Coast and back. The first leg of our journey to Rock Hill, MD took about 23 hours! The drive home from Reston, VA took about 21 hours. Our van, Whitey Ford, has a bed right behind the driver’s seat allowing one of us to nap. As Keith always says, “We hope the guy napping isn’t the one driving!”
This summer makes 39 years that we’ve been writing songs, playing music, and driving the roads of this country together. It’s amazing how the roads and vistas we see bring back so many thoughts of previous tours. Memories fire like popcorn popping as we drive I-40 through Arkansas and Tennessee. It’s impossible to know how many times we’ve crossed the Mississippi River, but it’s always a big deal. The views of the mountains up I-81 are breathtaking any time of year. The drive is perhaps a little more breathtaking in an ice storm, but it’s more relaxing to see the trees and flowers in full bloom.
May is a big month for us. Trout Records is releasing the self titled CD, Dana Louise and the Glorious Birds. For those of you who might not know, Dana Louise is Ezra’s daughter. The official album release tour starts on Cinco de Mayo at George’s Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville, AR. Keith and Ezra will be taking the stage as Glorious Birds for a lot of the month of May. We’ll also be doing quite a bit as Trout. It’s a busy time for us, but playing music is what makes us the happiest. Check out our calendar to find when we’ll be in your neighborhood as Trout or as Glorious Birds. A guaranteed good time will be had, whether fish or fowl!
