This morning we woke to 14 degrees in Arkansas. The sun was hanging low in the sky and snow flurries were shimmering like we were living inside of a snow globe. Imagine someone dropping glitter form the skies. Truly a magical and glorious moment! The joy was short-lived though when we got the sad news that the infamous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, has predicted another 6 weeks of winter. Sounds like its time to head to Florida! And folks, that’s just where we’re going.
This year we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a return to one of our old favorites, Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa, FL. We’ll have a kid’s show in the afternoon and then you all can get sitters and return for a romantic evening show! It promises to be great fun and you should be there. We also have a series of house concerts lined up that week that you might be interested in. These are intimate gatherings that offer a unique perspective on live music. If you haven’t been to one yet, you should consider it. It’s the opposite of watching the Rolling Stones in the Astrodome.
The next week, we’ll be attending the Folk Alliance International in Kansas City. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, this is a huge gathering of musicians and other people involved with the music business. We will be doing several Private showcases as Trout Fishing in America. We will also be presenting Dana Louise and the Glorious Birds. Dana is Ezra’s daughter and she’s writing some great songs these days. We’ve been in the studio recording for her next CD that will be released in the Spring on Trout Records. That’s Jack Williams in the studio singing some amazing harmonies!
