August 2013

We’re just back from the beautiful state of Colorado. We played for the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad at our annual, “train gig”. Fred Hargrove and Keith on the train We take a train out of Alamosa, CO and spend a couple of hours rocking in the Rockies at an amphitheater surrounded by mountains and trees. We were in the process of starting a love song up there when a little boy walked up to the stage and shouted at us to “PLAY DINOSAUR”! He folded his arms and waited for us to comply. There was nothing to do but to stop the song we were playing and start “When I Was a Dinosaur”. At this point he started walking away. Ezra shouted, “HEY COME BACK HERE! WE’RE PLAYING THIS SONG FOR YOU”! Unfazed, the little boy shouted, “I CAN STILL HEAR YOU OVER THERE”! Ezra said, “YOU’LL MISS MY PRETTY FACE”! The young critic just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. We all had a great laugh and played the Dinosaur song.

I want to thank you both for making Blue Skies this year so memorable. It’s been too long since you were here last – 21 years. As I recall, it rained that year as well. It was great to see, and hear, you both. Come back again real soon. And til next time, safe travels.

Thank you Dale, I will pass on the message to Keith and Ezra. We all had a fantastic time! What a special festival, no matter how much rain, the spirits are not dampened. Hope we can make it back soon.
