2007 is already well underway and we’re still having a tough time not writing 06 on checks. It’s not like we’re trapped in the past or anything. It’s just that we sort of got used to writing 06. But now it’s time to move on, especially since 07 is shaping up to be such a good year for us so far.
We just got back from a trip to the Cleveland area where we took some time out to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If you’ve never been, we recommend putting it on your list of things to do. We had a blast! Keith didn’t think he’d enjoy this sort of thing but the exhibits moved him. They really bring it all to life and memories just rush out at you from all directions. After studying a lot of the exhibits, we decided that our wardrobe is probably holding us back from superstardom. Maybe some sparkly sport coats or gold sequined waders would do the trick.
While in Ohio, we had another experience worth noting. After our Perrysburg concert, we found ourselves discussing the shows and sitting at a table with three women who had made big efforts to help bring Trout to the area. In the course of our conversation, we discovered that all three of them have Black Belts in Karate. Ezra and Keith have never felt safer. Who knows? Maybe if our new Rock and Roll wardrobe propels us to superstardom, we’ll need protection, maybe even bodyguards. There would be nothing cooler than three female Black Belts ready to spring into action at the first sign of danger.
We are getting excited about the approaching Grammy Awards on February 11th. In case you missed hearing about it, our latest CD, My Best Day, has received a nomination for Best Musical Album for Children. We will be living it up for a couple of days in Los Angeles with our wives and some members of our family. Win or not, we intend to have some fun. Aside from the spectacular, bigger than life Grammy Awards ceremony at the Staples Center, the Nominees’ Party on the night before is truly a highlight we’re looking forward to. We’ll get to meet all kinds of people in the music business and spend some time chatting. Then there’s always the party after the Awards are presented. And talk about wardrobe! These people really know how to do it. We’re taking notes this time.
Not sure whether to put this in the newsletter or not, but this year will be the year of the banjo for Trout. Ezra got a new electric banjo and songs have been written! Other songs have been interpreted. Keith thinks the new banjo looks like an electric toilet seat but it sounds better. Come on out and see if you agree. And who knows what we might be wearing?
