October 2006

Dear e-Fisherfolk:

Don’t look now, but in case you haven’t noticed, it’s already October and another year has nearly slipped through our fingers. Amazing! How can that be? We don’t know but there are a few signs. We noticed a sprinkling of leaves gone gold and yellow among the lush greenery of the Arkansas hills. The temperature has dropped out of the three digit zone. And most notably, the first holiday Christmas decorations have been spotted. The award this year goes to Lowe’s Hardware Store, where trees, lights, bulbs and other festive decorations made their appearance October 3rd while Keith was looking through the Gardening Section. At least there wasn’t any musical sound track to go with it.

Our newest CD, My Best Day, came out last month and is being well received by critics and enjoyed by normal people. It is a live recording of a Trout concert complete with stage banter and witty blatherings. It has often been said that Trout is at its best live. If you are one of those types of listeners, this CD is for you. We travel a lot and unless you are independently wealthy and can quit your job and follow us around, it might be difficult to get to a Trout concert when you need one. This handy little CD will tide you over until we get back to your Time Zone. My Best Day can turn even a bad day into a good one. (How’s that for a marketing slogan?) Have you noticed how the hip new trend in advertising is to make up new words to describe something? I’ve had fun making up a few of my own. How about ‘Audiolicious’ for deliciously listenable. Or how about Stupendidiot for someone who is stupendously stupid? Works for me.

Another one of our CDs is making a bit of noise again. inFINity (which earned us our first Grammy nomination) has been included in the Fisher-Price Song and Story Online Store. It was a bit hard to understand what this meant at first, so we offer this excerpt of their advertising as an explanation. By the way, when they say “Your favorite Artist’s Name children’s music” they’re talking Trout here. Anyway, it could be a nice present if the trees, lights, bulbs and other decorations begin to make you nervous.

Your favorite Artist’s Name children’s music is now available for download from the brand new Fisher-Price Song & Story Online Store!! It’s like an “i-Tunes” for kids! You can download your child’s favorite tunes and stories onto their Fisher-Price Kid-Tough FP3 Player. It’s like a kid’s MP3 player, but it’s made by Fisher-Price, so it’s really fun and made just right for kids ages 3-8! It has simple controls and a durable drop resistant design so it stands up to rough preschooler use. Just like i-Tunes you add content to your Kid-Tough FP3 Player by downloading songs and stories from today’s popular children’s artists and authors from the safe, user-friendly Fisher Price Song & Story Online Store – the first online store of its kind to specifically offer only child appropriate content!

By the time you read this, we’ll be in Shreveport, LA for a week at the Red River Revel. See you at Murrell’s!

Troutfully Yours,
Keith and Ezra
