In just a few short days, spring will officially begin and all the signs are here. Keith tilled his garden yesterday and the Grimwoods are all set for their traditional St. Patrick’s Day potato planting. The tomatoes will need to wait until we’re sure it won’t freeze again. Let’s just hope it rains again. Arkansas is currently in a drought and there are burn bans in effect. The Idlet household is experiencing basketball’s March Madness. Congratulations to Dana Idlet and the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on their victory over Rice to take the Conference USA title. The game was televised on ESPN2 and there was even an on air mention of Trout Fishing in America. Thanks Dana. Good luck at the “Big Dance”. Steven Idlet and the Prairie Grove Tigers got to the state championship for the first time in seven years. Unfortunately it was an early exit despite Steven’s opening jaw-dropping, rim-rattling, two-handed, alley-oop slam dunk.
We’d like to report that the AETN show in Conway, Arkansas was a tremendous success. Thank all of you who braved the sleet and snow to attend. People came in from seven states. Wow, what a fabulous audience you were. Presently we’re listening to the audio recording from that afternoon and it sounds great. Be watching for a release later this year.
In the next four months, we’re booked to play at least 12 states. If Keith’s math is correct, that means we’re playing in an average of 3 different states each month. Realizing that there are 52 weeks in a year, if we were in a different state every week, we’d barely cover the country in a year. We keep getting calls and emails asking why we haven’t been to certain areas lately. Folks, we’re trying. If you would like Trout to play near you, lobby for it. Talk to concert venues, arts councils, schools, clubs. Tell them you want your Trout. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Start squeaking, get greasy. And if you live in Idaho, get especially loud. Because Idaho is still the only state we have never been to.
