August 2003

Dear e-Fisherfolk:

July is gone. The corn has been harvested and put away. The Grimwoods have many jars of tomato marmalade and homemade salsa. We’re still enjoying fresh veggies from our gardens. It’s still raining occasionally in Arkansas and the dry season (read: crop withering season) hasn’t set in.

Summer basketball is over and the Air Oklahoma Stars, the team that Dana Idlet plays on, won their second consecutive BCI national basketball championship. The Idlets had a mini-vacation in beautiful Lubbock, TX watching basketball and visiting the town where Ezra met his wife Karen.

Our new album, It’s A Puzzle, will be officially released on September 2nd. It was recorded at the Briar Patch Studio in Hendersonville, TN with our good friend and producer, Fred Bogert. It’s A Puzzle is a fun exploration of many of our musical roots. Describing our music is often difficult and puzzling. The many styles represented on this CD are as diverse as the people that come out to Trout shows. Hopefully you’ll find lots to enjoy here. We do.

We hope your summer is going well and we hope you’re enjoying the fabulous view of Mars these August nights. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should go outside at about 2 or 3 o’clock and look up at the southern sky for a beautiful garnet colored gem. Then go back to sleep listening to some of our music.

Troutfully yours,
Keith and Ezra
